About This Position

We are a busy outpatient family practice with urgent care hours, seeking a reliable and experienced Part-Time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our team.

Job Description

Outpatient family and urgent care setting handling walk-ins and appointments. Work independently with physician support available via phone, text, or video. Perform procedures including Pap smears, laceration repair, ingrown toenail removal, mole excision, and incision & drainage.

Responsibilities

  • Provide diagnosis, treatment, consultation, and follow-up care of patients in an outpatient family practice and urgent care setting
  • Handle walk-in patients and scheduled appointments independently
  • Work independently with physician support available via phone, text, or video
  • Perform procedures such as Pap smears, laceration repair, ingrown toenail removal, mole excision, and incision & drainage
  • Order and interpret indicated diagnostic testing based upon evidence-based medicine
  • Utilize eClinicalWorks electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Counseling and educating patients on health behaviors, self-care skills and treatment options
  • Diagnosing and treating acute illnesses, infections and injuries
  • Diagnosing, treating, and monitoring chronic diseases (e.g., diabetes, high blood pressure)
  • Obtaining medical histories and conducting physical examinations
  • Ordering, performing and interpreting diagnostic studies (e.g., lab tests, x-rays, EKGs)
  • Prescribing medications
  • Providing health maintenance care for adults, including annual physicals

Requirements

  • Active TX license & DEA
  • Minimum 1 year experience in family medicine/urgent care
  • Confident in handling patients and procedures independently
  • Familiarity with eClinicalWorks is a plus
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Excellent soft skills including listening, clear communication, and compassion

Schedule

  • Part Time
  • Monday-Friday 8am-8pm, Saturday 8am-6pm

Education & Certifications

  • Must have a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner degree/certification
  • Active Texas PA or NP license
  • DEA License
  • Board certification for family medicine or related specialty
  • Must be certified to practice BLS / ACLS
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in family medicine/urgent care

Supervisory Responsibility

Medical Assistant or a team of medical staff

Physical Demands

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to blood and other bodily fluids, the use of needles which exposes the employee to punctures. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate, depending on patient flow.
